Do you own a digital SLR camera (that's the fancy one with all the big lenses!) and yet don't really know what all the function buttons do? Is it gathering dust somewhere in a cupboard, crying out for attention? Perhaps you are constantly taking photos that are under or over-exposed or have no real impact to them? Maybe you just need to feel inspired again to kick start your hobby or really you just want to get to grips with the basics? Perhaps you simply want a refresher? Well if any of that sounds familiar, then wish no longer, you can now do something about it. Book yourself onto one of my ever popular group photography workshops, starting up again at the beginning of spring this year and we'll see how quickly you improve.
Why spend hours trying to read a manual, when you can learn in a practical, hands-on session whilst also having lots of fun. - Vouchers for lessons can also be purchased as gifts. - Private one-to-one lessons are also available for £150 for two hours (for more time or specialist tuition, please ask for a quote). Beginner Photography Workshops - £75 per student: The aim of this lesson is get students, in a relaxed natural setting, to learn how to get the best from their cameras, develop confidence in their photography and have fun through a practical session. We then go through the basic functions of the camera, making sure all students understand the relationship between shutter speed and aperture. You will be given a leaflet to take away with everything we’ve learned on the lesson and at the end we’ll have a chance to go through any other questions you may want to ask. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Intermediate/Refresher Photography Workshops - £75 per student: The aim of this lesson is get students who've already taken the beginners lesson, or feel they have a good understanding of the basics, on to the next level of photography, which is less focussed on the technicalities of the camera and more on the practical side of picture taking. Firstly we'll do a refresher of the basics - aperture, shutter speed, ISO, exposure etc to check everyone is up to scratch. We'll then spend time taking photos using these settings to improve the pictures. The lesson will then incorporate the following: composition, use of available light to take good portraits, correct cropping of images in camera, basic level flash to improve portraits, use of shutter speed for creative effect. And if we have time, we'll do some fun tricks that you can impress your friends, partners or kids with and make your photos stand out a little. No handout is given with this lesson, but anyone who hasn't done the beginner lesson with me can request a copy of that handout to take away. If you are unsure whether your skills are up to this lesson, please telephone me (or email me with your number) first so I can assess your knowledge. Or email me at info@flashfields.com (info@flashfields.com) Lessons will start at 10am and will take place at Parliament Hill, on Hampstead Heath. The meeting point will be on Highgate Road, on the corner of Woodsome Road, NW5 - Outside The Bull and Last pub -opposite the C2 & C11 bus stop - there are wooden picnic benches outside - we will meet there. (if you want to schedule a private or group lesson we can arrange a different location in North or Central London, if one is more suitable for you) Or from Gospel Oak it's 0.4 miles - a seven minute walk. On street parking is also available - free on Sundays and Saturdays on Highgate Road, Woodsome Road, Saint Albans Road and surrounding roads. There are meters in the car-park by the Lido if you are meeting me on a week day. Although on the road above parking is only restricted between 10am-12pm. Meeting point map below: Please wear comfortable footwear as we will be walking over the Heath, but no-where too muddy, or too taxing, so don't worry! Breaks are taken if the group requests it, but it's quite a relaxed workshop, so mainly we just stay where we on the Heath. It is recommended therefore that you bring your own drink/snack if you think you might want one. There are toilets and a cafe nearby. You must bring with you a digital SLR camera (though if you haven’t got one because you are taking the lesson before you buy one, you may be able to use one of mine, please ask at time of booking). Please familiarise yourself with the function buttons on your camera (bring your manual if you’re unsure) as this is a general DSLR lesson and you will need to know how to locate the functions we're using on your camera, though I can help you if you get stuck. I will be at the meeting point five minutes before the lesson is scheduled to start. If you are going to be late for any reason, please phone through on the mobile: 07766 241763. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you are not guaranteed a place on the lesson and your fee will not be refunded, but I will do my best to help you find us to avoid this, as long as you phone. Cancellations: In the event of rain, lessons will be called off and re-scheduled at no extra cost to yourselves. Please provide mobile numbers in case of this eventuality, so you can be contacted in the morning. Or call me if you're unsure before you leave home. The lesson fee is paid upfront - refunds are not given. You can however transfer the lesson to another person. If you are buying a voucher for a friend, they will need to book their lesson within 3 months of the voucher date. Lessons will only go ahead if a minimum of three students book on, this will be confirmed 5 days beforehand. Occasionally I have to cancel a lesson because a commercial photography job has come up, in this instance you will be offered a full refund or a chance to book onto any other workshop. Any questions just email or call for chat, Susie. |
